Ever since living in Utah, I feel like I've come in contact with a lot of talented bakers.
Take, for example,
Cakes from the school bakery contest:
A Hotdog and Fries Cake!
I was so shocked with how well these cakes turned out. How can people be so creative? Then I saw
Cakes from Midway Country Corner:
A Sweetarts Cake!
I'm proud to say that creativity runs a little bit through my family. This can be seen in a
Cake by my dad:
A Pyramid Cake!
Yeah, Utah, I know I'm going to fit right in. Mostly because my "creations" turn out looking like I had intended. Kind of like this
Cake by my mom:
"I can't believe it's made outta cake!" that's what that dude Buddy from cake boss says all the time. Because I am an extremely annoying person I bark that phrase constantly as well whether there is a cake around or not. I quite possibly do the worst impressions/accents ever so that only heightens the experience for those around me.
ReplyDeletecool dad cake, bad mom cake. my dad once made me a transformers cake for my 8th birthday. It was pretty cool but it didn't have the dimensions like your dads. What I'm saying here clearly is that my dad doesn't love me.
LOL!!! That would be MY cake, too! I have a friend who is very talented with the cakes... hers are like those fancy, cool ones. Mine... well... you've seen the videos ;-)
ReplyDeleteI'll be that Earthquake Cake was pretty durn tasty :)
Move over, Cake Wrecks! Looks like someone enjoyed your mom's cake straight out of the pan - with a sand blaster. :) And, that hotdog cake is quite disturbing.
ReplyDelete*sigh* Sort of jealous! I have a baking and pastry degree and hold no decorating skills whatsoever. So I get really jealous in an angry sort of way when people younger than me or my age has such a talent. x.x
ReplyDeletehahahah! :) Those cakes are quite creative, especially the earthquake one :)
ReplyDeleteWOW! so creative!
ReplyDeleteI would love to eat this post.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend, Shannon.

We have similar talents. I'd simply emphasize taste over presentation in this case. Besides, isn't that what it's gonna look like when it exits from the basement? :oD
ReplyDeleteHi! I'm a new reader from the blog party... and holy crap! That bumble snow cake is insane!!! Wow!! These all look so tasty... I could just lick the screen, lol! Nice to "meet" you!
ReplyDeleteI, for one, dig your earthquake cake. Mainly because it looks very similar to everything I bake...
ReplyDeleteWOW those cakes looked so amazing!! Pretty sure my cake would turn out more like the last if I tried to get too fancy with it! lol
ReplyDeleteGreat cakes! The "A Bumble Snow Monster Cake" is the Abominable Snowman from the classic Christmas movie Rudolf The Red Nosed Reindeer.
ReplyDelete:)
ButterYum
Yeah, these bakers all have serious talent...that I don't have. It's okay, though, like Diva Latina said, it doesn't matter what the cakes look like--they all end up in the same place anyway.
ReplyDeleteButterYum, I know! That's why I took a picture of Bumble--I was excited to see an actual cartoon character that's edible.
My cakes look like the last one, except that mine are also burnt. I am certainly not going to win any Top Chef contests!
ReplyDeleteAnd those cakes are too pretty to eat--doesn't that defeat the purpose?
<3 <3 <3 the sweet-tart cake
ReplyDeleteLoved the cakes... I am afraid my cakes normally look like the earthquake cake...
ReplyDeleteMan I thought I had a favorite when I saw the fish bowl one but as I scrolled down the choice got harder! The last cake was...special
ReplyDeleteYep, my cakes look - and taste- like the Earthquake cake, too! Dontcha just hate talented people? ;-)
ReplyDeleteNew follower from the Birthday Bash!
It's amazing, some people sure have skills, it makes me feel so sad :(
ReplyDeletethis post is awesome! i love cakes like this so much; wish i could make them myself.
ReplyDeletecome see me! i love making new bloggy friends and you seem like just my type! hahah :P
fish bowl cake really colorful. The last cake, ermm..something happen on it...
ReplyDeleteHey, that Earthquake Cake might become a trend in Utah so don't sell your mom short, okay? People do have various tastes in cakes, you know! I do have a fascination for cake decorating and I must say that the pizza cake appealed to me the most! Yum!
ReplyDeletewoah those are some really neat cakes! makes me hungry lol your blog is so cute you should check mine out and follow if you like mine. i'm following you {;

Those are some great cakes. I can't even write in frosting...much less attempt something like these! I've always wanted to make my kids b-day cakes, maybe I'll develop some talent over time.;)
ReplyDeleteahaha your mum's cooking is as bad as mine!
ReplyDeleteWow those cakes are amazing!!! I'm pretty creative but don't execute my creation very well lol I'm not a good baker either!
ReplyDeleteAhah these are so damn creative! I could never make stuff like these... Following and supporting.
ReplyDeleteOMG this has made me ridiculously hungry !
ReplyDeleteHa! But the cake by your mom probably tasted the best!
ReplyDeleteFunny. I am so inept at cake decorating, but I always, always, always attempt to do something really great (and usually waaaay over my head). Because I dream big. Sometimes it works out okay, but not always. ;) Loved your post. Stopping by from UBP. Feel free to come by and say hi.
ReplyDeleteI like the half eaten one
ReplyDeleteWheatgerm, that's just the thing, though: It wasn't half eaten.
ReplyDeleteWow. Wow. Wow. Those are awesome cakes and awesome pictures, thanks for sharing, I think I just gained 5 pounds just looking at them!
ReplyDeleteWow very cool looking cakes
ReplyDeleteOoh. My favorite is the popcorn cake. It is so awesome looking! I wish I could make stuff like that.
ReplyDeleteI just made a guinea pig cake last week. I have to say that it was super cute and almost didn't want to eat it.
